Liberation Route audio spot in Overloon
At each Liberation Route audio spot, you can listen to a radio play about the impressive experiences of one or more people during the last years of the war. In Overloon, you can listen to the story of how Overloon was almost completely destroyed by Allied artillery fire and air raids.
The battle of Overloon
One of the fiercest battles in the Netherlands during World War II, takes place near Overloon. American and British armoured divisions battle German tanks and troops. On 12 October 1944, Allied artillery fire and air raids almost completely destroy Overloon. But the Germans do not surrender. It takes days more before the battle is over.
