in the middle of Limburg

There is plenty of opportunity to explore the artistic side of Midden Limburg and many disciplines are represented. Leading artists, such as painters, sculptors or glass artists put their heart and soul into their designs and collections. Often they have their gallery or studio at home and you can meet the artists and learn about the collections. Twice a year, during the “Kunstroute Midden-Limburg”, around 25 studios and galleries are open to visitors and you can try a wide range of workshops which are always great fun. Various museums complete the cultural offerings - Midden-Limburg is extremely proud of the “Cuypershuis”, which opened in 2011 and was formally the “Stedelijk Museum(City Museum)” in Roermond.

On a cultural-historical level, the region has a wealth of castles, churches, chapels, mills and monuments. Each object has its own character and history, each one more interesting, entertaining or more turbulent than the other. Especially near Weert where there are many municipal and private mills. The millers regularly open their doors for the public to visit
